Gold Crossing

The greyed old man who has no legs
is sitting on his window ledge.
He’s looking at the cars go past
as if he’s waiting for a crash.

The short old lady in her dress
is standing by the wooden fence.
She’s looking at the people pass
and wonders how long this’ll last.

The homeless man under the bridge
is trying to avoid the breeze.
He’s looking at the passersby
and hopes he too one day will fly.

The teenage girl all dressed in black
is always longing for a spark.
She’s looking at her life passing
as if lost time is not worth catching.
